Hardywood Park Farmhouse Pumpkin
Hardywood Park Farmhouse Pumpkin is a hybrid of a Pumpkin Ale and a Saison/Farmhouse Ale. I was a little disappointed when I got this home to Georgia, in my rush to pick up a few bottles I thought this was the Rum Pumpkin they brew! Oh well, it is still a new beer I’ve never had that sounds pretty damn good.
This beer is brewed with flame roasted Virginia sugar pumpkins, brown sugar, Ceylon cinnamon, whole Grenada nutmeg, whole Madagascar clove, allspice and pounds of freshly sliced organic ginger root. Certianly getting all of that in the aroma, although it is surprisingly mild! Actually that is probably a good thing, it allows some of the Belgian yeast and saison character through. This tastes exactly like expected, nice pumpkin, nutmeg and clove flavors are balancing very well with a nice and light bit of saison like funkiness.
This turned out to be a good mistake, I enjoyed this quite a bit after all!
