Dogfish Head Beer Thousand
Dogfish Head Beer Thousand is an American Double/Imperial Pilsner, brewed as a tribute to senior citizen indie rock band Guided By Voices. The name a clever homage to the album Bee Thousand. Brewed with 10 grains x 10 hops x 10% ABV. Get it? Beer Thousand! I’m not going to go into all of the varieties of grains and hops, but feel free to click the link to see them on the DFH website. Anyway, on to the beer…
The aroma is fantastic on this, sweet grain and hops along with a strong bit of alcohol heat. The taste really follows the nose with all of those ingredients melding into some kind of tasty hop/grain mess, but in a really good way. It is almost impossible to pick out specific hop flavors or malt profiles, but what comes out of all of it is pretty good. The booziness is a bit of a drawback for me, it’s just way too hot overall.
As always another interesting beer from DFH, and it is nice to see a new offering that isn’t a wine like, ancient ale type thing.
