FiftyFifty Eclipse Stout Evan Williams 2012
FiftyFifty Eclipse Stout Evan Williams 2012 is an American Double/Imperial Stout aged in Evan Williams bourbon barrels. Bottle No.: BR/1 2012, the wax color for this bottle is “black”.
Perfect dark black appearance with a smooth, mildly viscous mouth-feel. The aroma is outstanding as expected, strong bourbon (a bit of a surprise with two years of age) followed by chocolate, roast and hints of vanilla. The taste brings in big bourbon and a general booziness. A great intense roast is still present along with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, and a bit of a dry and almost hoppy finish. This beer is so big, in every way this beer is just BIG. Fantastic.
The big issue with the Eclipse series is always going to be cost/value. At $30 a bottle it is always a bit of a gamble if you haven’t tried the variant before. In this case it really worked out, it was an amazing way to finish our BDR holiday gathering this year!
