Champion Black Me Stout
The appearance is black at first look, but there is a good bit of brown dark caramel color around the edges when held to the light. Solid stout aroma, a little chocolate and roasted malts, mildly sweet with a touch of maple syrup. This taste pretty good, it starts typical with roasted malts and some generic sweetness. I was expecting the wheat to be drown out by the bigger stout flavors, but a touch of it comes out in the middle of the taste. Dry and slightly smokey on the finish evoking a good Irish Dry Stout. Maybe a little thin in the mouth-feel, but that is forgivable in a sessionable stout like this.
Solid all around. I don’t think I am going to rush out and trade for a bunch of this, but I’d pick up a six pack to haul home if I found it when traveling. Thanks for the can Raymond!
