Spring 2015 Run Kit
The frozen tundra of winter is finally giving way to the blooms of spring. This is what we’re wearing on our early morning runs, mostly in the 30 – 60 degree Fahrenheit range in the gorgeous American South. A solid pun would be to say “your mileage may vary” but you honestly can’t go wrong with our picks for fave gear of the season.
Falke makes great-looking, high quality gear. These wind-proof tights provide just enough break to keep out the chill of early morning runs without holding in too much heat. As a bridge between winter base layer and lightweight early spring coverage, these pants are a perfect compromise.
Recommending shoes can be tricky and no shoe construction truly “fits all” but the Asics Gel-Cumulus series fills the middle ground between ultralight and stiff-soled with a solid all-purpose flex that makes a lot of runners very happy. The 16 update brings some design flair to your kicks with the optional bright blue camouflage pattern.
We write about socks a lot on BDR and highlighting Balega is a no-brainer. With so many options to choose from, it can get overwhelming. The Blister Resist series provide just enough extra padding in all the right places while still letting your feet breathe easily. For low-cut shoes, the no-show variant creates a nice visual line (or lack thereof) and let those ankles get some sun.
At BDR we use Spreadshirt for on-demand printing on performance fabrics and our latest offering is a tri-blend shirt that is comfortable, quick to wick and fits and drapes with a flattering shape. The heat-pressed vinyl graphics don’t fade or peel, remaining bright wash after wash.
