Herzl Beer Workshop Embargo
Herzl Beer Workshop Embargo American Porter, 6% ABV. This Israeli brewed beer is actually labeled as a Cuban Tobacco Leaf Porter, and is apparently brewed with actual tobacco to celebrate the relaxing of U.S. trade relations with Cuba. Go figure.
A solid smelling and looking Porter, but nothing that would make you think it was brewed with tobacco. The taste was really nice though. Rich but not heavy with a great roasted malt backbone. The tobacco is evident in the taste adding a sweet and earthy note. This beer has a great medium bodied mouth-feel as well, very enjoyable.
I have to say I was a little surprised by this beer, from label, to concept, to execution it is fantastic. Seriously, slap a Cigar City label on this and people would go nuts for it. Huge thanks to Lee for bring this back from his trip to Israel and sharing it with us!
