Sweetwater Happy Ending

Sweetwater Happy Ending is an American Double/Imperial Stout, 9% ABV. This 2014/15 winter seasonal has a best by date of 12/18/15.

The aroma and flavor go hand in hand on this big Imperial Stout. Big malt flavor with a bit of burnt raisin folded into the roasted malts. This stout had a decent hop bite on the finish that is mixing well with some dry and bitter roast. That 9% ABV is pretty well hidden but becomes more obvious as the beer warms.

Nothing outrageous, but I remember being really impressed by this when I first started drinking stouts. This is a great beer to gateway from dark beers like Guinness to some of the bigger and sexier Russian Imperial and Bourbon Barrel Aged Stouts on the market.
