Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout
Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout is an American Stout, 6% ABV. This is a year-round Stout that features portraits by a local Kalamazoo artist on the label.
This is an exceptionally dark beer with a nice tan head with a great aroma. The big roasted malts are the highlight on the nose, but there is a little sweetness there as well along with a hint of licorice rounding out the aroma. The taste has those big roasted malts that give way to a fairly strong hop bitterness on the finish. This is a stout that isn’t afraid to add some balance with the hops. A nice helping of coffee and a bit of sweet black licorice flavors make an appearance in the taste giving this a nice complexity. The mouth-feel is spot on, not too heavy but big enough to feel like a higher ABV offering.
Bell’s makes solid year round beers and this one is no different. This is the kind of Stout that works in both the cooler and warmer months.
