Stone Imperial Russian Stout
Stone Imperial Russian Stout is a Russian Imperial Stout. This beer is released every year in April, around the day US taxes are due. Get it? IRS instead of RIS. Anyway this is a beer I really enjoy after about a year of age. This review is for the 2014 vintage, aged one year.
The pour is pretty much pitch black with a one finger brown head. The aroma brings roasted malts, molasses, vanilla cream and a little sweet licorice. The taste is of medium roasted malts, french roasted coffee, mild molasses, vanilla beans and a some hop bitterness mixing with a little black licorice. The 11% ABV on this is barely noticeable at this point.
One of my favorite Russian Imperials, flavorful and easy to drink. Purchased yearly and highly recommended.
