Funky Buddha Big Guava Jelly

Funky Buddha Big Guava Jelly is an American Blonde Ale. They are calling this a Blonde Ale but it could be labeled a Fruit Beer as well.

The pour is cloudy for a Blonde Ale, but that seems to work in this case. The aroma is so-so for me: Lots of earthy guava fruit and nice sweetness on the nose, but not much else. As far as the taste goes, the simple base of a Blonde Ale allows the fruit to shine. I’m really enjoying the combination of the guava fruit, grain and yeast. The funkiness of the fruit is a bit of a turn off at times, but a little sweetness helps things out a bit. This is without a doubt one of the most complex Blonde Ales I can remember having!

This should appeal to both beer nerds and sweet fruit beer drinkers alike. You’ve gotta be a guava fan though.
