Against The Grain 70K
Against The Grain 70K is a Milk/Sweet Stout. Simply take Against The Grain 35K and double that, then go ahead and age it it Angel’s Envy bourbon barrels and you have yourself 70K! This was one of the first beers I ordered at Night of the Beer Geek 6.0, and at 13.1% ABV I limited myself to a single 6 oz pour of this.
It pours as black as the dark, dark night, no light would even think of passing through this beer. By the time the little taster glass got to me it was void of any head. The aroma is pretty much just straight bourbon. So boozy. Intense bourbon is just about all I got in the taste at first, but it did get more complex as the beer warmed up a little bit. Some serious raisins and chocolate comes out, as well as some mild hints of vanilla and dry oak. This has a nice dense mouth-feel, a true sipper, even with so many great beers left to try I sipped on this for a while.
Sweet and boozy (soooooo boozy) pretty much sums up this beer, and (at least for me) there at nothing wrong with that.
