Highland Brewing Clawhammer
Highland Brewing Clawhammer is a Märzen/Oktoberfest, 5% ABV.
This pours with a near perfect golden/red color, an extremely clear lager with a disappointing head that is gone before very long. The aroma brings in some sweet bready malts with a hint of unexpected cinnamon. I’m tasting toasted bread, a hint of pepper spice, sweet caramel, a bit of fruitiness as well… kind of like apples. Obviously this is a malt forward beer, but there is a nice attempt to balance with some mild hop spice.
Maybe not my favorite Oktoberfest on the market, but this was really quite good. I would have no problem knocking back a few of these (if they are still around) when the weather actually gets cooler here in Savannah.
