Stone Your Father Smelt Of Elderberries
Stone Your Father Smelt Of Elderberries is a 10.3% ABV Fruit Beer that is said to be inspired by medieval England, and interpretation of what the Knights of the Round Table might have enjoyed. This is the latest release in the Stochasticity Project series.
This pours with a dark red color, think pomegranate juice. The carbonation and head is minimal, but I have to image that was done on purpose to simulate a brew from the time period that might have bee a little less carbonated. Not a great aroma really, kind of musty and sort of fruity. I have really no experience with elderberries so maybe that is what they smell like? The taste is sweet and malt forward to start, a hint of molasses and a big rush of peat smoked malt and grain. A quick blast of blueberry like fruit flavor hits the finish and aftertaste.
Other than the concept being fun, I had no idea what to expect from this one. What you end up with is a nice strong ale that is not overly complex. A fine Fall sipper overall.
