Terrapin The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA

Terrapin The Walking Dead Blood Orange IPA is a Red IPA brewed with blood orange peel, 6.7% ABV. Nice marketing crossover here with the popularity of The Walking Dead television show that is filmed in Georgia. I have never watched it, so for me this all about the beer itself.

This pours with a wonderful ruby red color and a nice off white head. The aroma is the highlight of this one, huge sweet and juicy blood orange along with hints of pine. The taste is a bit more muddled, definitely a red ale here with a nice earthy malt profile. Some of that citrus comes through, but I wish this was as juicy as it is on the nose. Medium hop bitterness and a return to the earthiness but this time it is more from the hops. A nice mix of sweet and hoppy/bitter going on with this beer.

Seemed to be a good bit of hype surrounding this one, but I’m not sure it quite worth it. A tasty beer, but at the end of the day I wouldn’t worry too much if you miss out on a bottle. (I got to the bottle shop just as the last few were selling a day after it’s arrival)
