Red Brick 22nd Anniversary Ale
Red Brick 22nd Anniversary Ale is a Double IPA brewed with 9 hops and 5 malts, 9.5% ABV.
The beer pours with a hazy dark amber color, flashes of red and orange, and a lovely off white head. I’m really into the aroma that has a ton of juicy fruit, lots of mango, dank pine, and a good amount of sugary malt sweetness. Sugary sweet in the taste to start as well, but then all those hops take over. Big resinous pine, some onion, generic citrus, mango, mint and an intense bitterness that seems like it may never go away. The mouth-feel is a bit thick and syrupy and there is absolutely no subtleness on the ABV. (I’m tasting all of the 9.5% in the aftertaste) I love a big DIPA, but this one might just be a little too much for me. It has a lot of good tasting flavors, but it seems they are all turned up to 11!
Congratulations to Red Brick on 22 years of craft beer. Georgia’s first craft brewery and still going strong!
