Weyerbacher 20th Anniversary

Weyerbacher 20th Anniversary is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. Brewed with coriander and star anise, 11% ABV. Bottled 06/09/15 with a best by of  06/09/20.

This pours with an extreme dark red and cola caramel color, with a lackluster head that faded very quickly. I am really enjoying the aroma, heaps of ripe dark fruits, sweet raisins and figs and just the slightest hint of licorice and spices. The flavor carries much of the same with the sweet dark fruits dominating. More subtle notes of cherry, caramel, coriander and mild licorice are big enough to come through. A strong and tasty Belgian yeast and some moderate alcohol warmth round out the flavor.

Not the most flashy or complex Belgian style ale, but it is bold and flavorful. I can’t remember where/when I picked this up, but I am going to be tempted to grab a few more if I get lucky and see it again.
