Casa Bruja Chivoperro
Casa Bruja Chivoperro is an American Style IPA, 6.1% ABV. Thanks to Lee for bringing this back from his recent visit to Panama. A bit out of date, but what are you gonna do?
The foam crept to the top of the bottle neck upon opening but it stopped short of running out of the bottle. The beer pours with a hazy golden orange color and a fluffy off white head. This has a pleasant aroma but it’s considerably malt forward. Not sure if this is by design or if this is due to the age of the bottle. Bitter citrus dominates the taste with notes of mint, pine and earth. A good bit of cracker malt is making up the base. I am tasting some evidence of diacetyl and oxidation with some off flavors of butter and wet paper.
Not too shabby overall, and I can see how this might be a pretty good beer when fresh.
