Evil Twin Aún Más Chili Jesús
Evil Twin Aún Más Chili Jesús is an American style Imperial/Double Stout, 12% ABV. One has to assume this is Aún Más A Jesús with chili peppers added. No bottle date.
The beer pours with a thick, viscous black color. No head at first, but a little ring builds to a thin layer of tan before a quick disappearing act. I was looking forward to some nice pepper spice on the nose, but it was not to be. The aroma is more of a rich chocolate, roast and licorice combo, like a good Russian Imperial Stout. My fist sip is sweet and roasty with notes of milk chocolate and black licorice. Then the chili spice slowly creeps onto the palate. It’s never imposing or too “hot”, but by the end of each sip it has totally dominated the entire flavor profile. Feeling the slightest burn in my chest from both the chili peppers and the 12% ABV! Not much carbonation, but there is just enough bubble to go well with the mild chili burn.
All the evidence points toward this being a little less then fresh (in addition to the drinking experience, the first BeerAdvocate review I found was from March of 2015), but this is still a tasty stout that is well worth a try it if you see it.
