Brooklyn Insulated Dark Lager
Brooklyn Insulated Dark Lager is a Schwarzbier, 5.6% ABV.
This pours with a dark brown color but is still a clear lager, a good bit of red highlights when held to the light. A nice light tan head sits on to of the beer. Mildly roasty and sweet on the nose with a hint of molasses and soy sauce. Strong roast, toasted nuts and a surprisingly large amount of acidic bitterness on the taste. The bitterness comes off a bit like green coffee to me but is probably coming from some hops. The aftertaste is fairly clean and quite pleasant with a soft lingering roast. The nuttiness really comes out as this warms and it mixes nicely with the acidic green coffee.
I’m not sure I’d go out of my way for another one of these, but it was enjoyable overall and is something I’d happily drink again.
