Ska Decadent
Ska Decadent is an American Double/Imperial IPA. This 10% ABV DIPA was originally brewed to celebrate Ska’s 10th Year, it is now available year round. This has a best by date of February 2017, so I am going to guess this was canned in February 2016? Can provided for review.
The beer pours with an extremely clear golden orange color with just the slightest bit of red highlights, a nice white head that laces rather well. The aroma is bright and sweet with a good bit of tropical fruit (mango and pineapple are at the forefront) as well as a nice caramel malt base. The taste kind of follows suit. The tropical flavors are there big time with some pineapple and orange that is certainly evident. This is followed by a strong alcohol bite and a bit of a soapy flavor that mixes with a touch of pine hop. The bitterness strong… but not intense. That doesn’t really make any sense, but I can’t describe it any other way!
This a solid year round offering, but be careful of that 10% ABV!
