Mother Earth Windowpane Series: Chocolate
Mother Earth Windowpane Series: Chocolate is an American Porter, 8.7% ABV. From the website: …an imperial oatmeal porter, brewed using cocoa nibs from Videri Chocolate Factory in Raleigh, NC, and aged in oak whiskey barrels for three months.
This pours from the bottle with an extremely dark brown color that is right on the border of true black. A nice off white head to start that fades to a thin but sturdy layer on top of the beer. The aroma is an inviting combination of the two elements showcased in the description, a solid amount of chocolate and some somewhat mild whiskey hits the nose immediately. The taste makes up for the mild nose with huge chocolate and potent whiskey flavor. They really got everything out of those barrels in three months! The finish has a very dry and slightly bitter combination of bakers chocolate and hops. You know this is in fact an oatmeal porter given the smooth, creamy, and full bodied mouth-feel.
Although way too expensive for me to go back and buy more of, I am pleased with the quality of the beer inside this 750 ml. bottle.
