Highland Brewing Pilsner
Highland Brewing Pilsner features four German Hallertau region hop varietals: Hallertau Blanc, Saphir, Perle, and Hersbrucker, 5.5% ABV, bottled on 5/05/16. Big thanks to Molly and Kate at Highland for sending the beer for us to review!
This Pils pours with a clean light straw yellow color and a nice head in my pilsner glass. The aroma has a lot of grain and grass, as well as some sweet bready malt. The same grass and bread flavors of the aroma are upfront in the taste, but this is Pilsner has a fairly complex flavor profile. More subtle, but not hidden, is a good amount of black pepper, hints of orange, and a sweet lemony finish. The feel is crisp and refreshing without being too bitter.
I’d say this is a touch on the sweeter side in general, but this is an excellent craft Pils for the hot summer months of the south.
