Hi-Wire Brewing Hi-Wire Lager
Hi-Wire Brewing Hi-Wire Lager is an American Pale Lager, 4.6% ABV, no bottle date. Looks like Hi-Wire has just recently launched here in Georgia, so I went ahead and picked up the mixed 12 pack to be able to try a variety of offerings.
Well, they really do have the pale part of this Pale Lager down! The beer has an extremely pale blonde color that is crystal clear. It pours with a big white head the settles down to about 1/4 of and inch, wonderful lacing is left behind after each swig from my shaker pint. Rather light in the aroma as well, but what is there is really pleasant. I’m smelling notes of fresh cut grass, pilsner malt, and just a touch of lemon. More lemon upfront on the taste, followed by a sweet malt bill that is a little doughy. (I think I might have preferred a bit more dry cracker malt in the taste) There is a fairly strong amount of bitterness on the finish, which is creating some excellent balance after the sweetness on the front end of the taste.
This is a mild, but flavorful and well balanced Lager. It might not the kind of thing your average beer geeks get too excited about, but I must admit this is a solid beer.
