Southbound Shakedown Street
Southbound Shakedown Street is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale that is kettle soured and infused with Southern Cross hops, 5.2% ABV, no canning date.
A relatively gentle pour creates a big white head on top of a crystal clear golden beer that has some orange and yellow highlights. (Some yeast must have settled to the bottom of the can, after the head calmed down the secondary pour created a bit cloudier appearance) Tart and slightly funky on the nose with a nice touch of lemon. The first thing I notice on the palate is a strong amount of pepper, this is complimented by some lemon and orange citrus. This Saison is on the sour side with a nod to a more classic barnyard funkiness as well. The finish is dry with a surprising bit of hop bite.
If you like your Saison with a little sour kick this one should be right up your alley.
