Highland Brewing Mosaic Rye IPL
Highland Brewing Mosaic Rye IPL is an American Double/Imperial Pilsner, 8% ABV. This new addition to The Warrior Series is brewed with three pounds of Mosaic hops per barrel, bottled on 05/10/16, opened on 08/19/16.
The beer pours with an absolutely crystal clear golden color with some mild hints of yellow around the edges. The head aggressively made its way to the top of the glass, but stopped just short of flowing over in classic advertising style. Far from your typical lager aroma, I’m getting a huge amount of sweet malt and a large dose of Mosaic hops. Fruity but earthy on the nose with notes of tangerine and muted grapefruit. I almost forgot about the rye, but there is a massive amount of peppery spice coming from it in the taste. The malt is a sweeter carmel and the hops deliver a nice collection of fruity notes. Bitter on the finish for a lager with a moderate amount of booziness as well.
The kind of beer you probably want to get a hold of as fresh as possible, but this big Imperial Lager is still drinking exceptionally well at a little over 3 months of age.
