Orpheus Serpent Bite
Orpheus Serpent Bite is a Dry-Hopped American Wild Ale that is fermented with house Lactobacillus and French Saison yeast, 6% ABV. Canned on 06/24/16, opened on 09/20/16.
This beer pours with slightly hazy golden yellow color, it started with a big fizzy white head that faded away quickly. I’m getting a nice bit typical Lacto sourness on the nose along with some mild melon (I will presume this in from the dry hopping), tart lemon, and a little bit of Gose like saltiness. The taste brings the palate some tart lemon, apple cider vinegar, a bit of dry grain, the mildest hints of guava and sweet orange, and a dash of peppery yeast right at the finish. A bit of mouth pucker right at the front end of the taste, but that mellows out towards the finish.
This beer is not a huge sour bomb if that is what you’re looking for. It’s more of an everyday kind of Sour Ale to have in in the fridge when it’s available.
