Einstök Beer Company Icelandic Toasted Porter

Einstök Beer Company Icelandic Toasted Porter is an American-style Porter, 6% ABV. Best by date of 01/21/18. Big thanks to Austin for the bottle!

The beer pours with a lovely dark chocolate color and a nice looking light tan head that fades a touch too fast. I’m enjoying a well balanced aroma of medium roast, sweet chocolate, a hint of smoke, doughy biscuit, and some toasted nuts. Unfortunately the taste does not have the rich complexity I get on the nose. Toasted malt makes up the majority of the taste with some mild bakers chocolate lurking in the background. Some general dark fruit flavor comes out after a few sips along with a suggestion of smokiness in the aftertaste. This Porter is on the dry side overall, I feel like a little more sweetness would do this beer a world of good. The mouth-feel is spot on for the style, nice medium body with excellent carbonation.

Highly enjoyable overall, a nice beer to transition from Fall to Winter.
