Founders PC Pils
Founders PC Pils is an German-style Pilsner that is brewed with American hops (Chinook, Cascade and Centennial) as opposed traditional Noble hops, 5.5% ABV. Bottled on 09/12/16, opened on 10/16/16.
The beer pours with a perfectly clear golden color and an impressive white head that has amazing retention. Not your traditional Pilsner aroma, I can immediately tell the hop difference on the nose. The smells much more dank and woodsy with strong notes of pine and grapefruit. Again this isn’t traditional in the taste, but I really like what this has to offer. Sweet cracker malt is complimented with some citrus and pine hop notes. I don’t feel like the hops are over the top though; the Noble hops seem to have been replaced, not necessarily cranked up. PC Pils still drinks like a good pilsner should, it is crisp with a fairly clean finish.
I like this. A lot. If I didn’t work for a brewery that made a great Pilsner, this would probably be my go to. Well, at least while it’s available this Fall.
