Fullsteam Southern Basil
Fullsteam Southern Basil is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale brewed with local basil and North Carolina wheat, 5% ABV. No canning or best by date.
This beer pours with a moderately hazy yellow color with just the slightest lime green tint. Well, I am definitely getting a good bit of basil on the nose. The basil in the aroma is complimented by a bit of lemon and slightly rustic farmhouse yeast. Basil is an aroma that could easily be overwhelming, especially in the wrong style of beer, but it works with this Farmhouse Ale base. I am going to have to say that the basil is a good bit stronger in the taste, probably strong enough to avoid if you are not a fan of the herb. I’m getting some nice notes of pepper and a little citrus that are hitting the taste buds as well. Not too complex of a beer here, but it is a pleasant late summer/early fall offering for the south.
I feel like the one 16oz can will be plenty of this for me at one time, but it was a fun pick up when traveling. I’d be tempted to snag another can next year if I come across it.
