Founders Porter comes in at 6.5% ABV, bottled on 09/08/16, opened on 11/20/16.
This beer pours with a dark brown color and has a dense dark tan head. The aroma reveals some sweet chocolate milk, just a touch of coffee, and perfectly roasted malts. I was looking for a little bit sweeter taste but this Porter really puts the focus on the roasted malts. The flavor profile is made up of those roasted malts, roasted nuts, notes of coffee, a little sweet cream in the background, and a strong bit of smoke. The hops are not absent in this one, they bring a nice bit of bitterness to a exceptionally dry finish.
Not sure why it’s been a while since I’ve had a Founders Porter, but I think I’ll be bumping up my “score” a little. This is one tasty beer.
