Sixpoint Global Warmer
Sixpoint Global Warmer is an American Amber/Red Ale, 7% ABV, best by date of 02/20/17, opened on 12/11/16. Can provided for review. I picked up a 4 pack of this a few years ago expecting a Winter Warmer type of beer, so you can imagine my surprise when I figured out this was an Imperial Red Ale. Looking forward to trying this one again now that I know what to expect.
This is a pretty looking beer with a mostly clear copper red color, maybe a little bit more orange and yellow at the bottom of my snifter. The aroma brings the nose a general sweetness, lots of dry pine, slightly spicy and earthy hops, a touch of tropical pineapple. The sweet bready and caramel malt base starts out the taste and is followed by some bright and slightly resinous pine, pineapple, mild mango and a moderate IPA like bitterness.
A perfect example of why it is important to go back and retry beers. Not only am I more into this kind of hoppy Red Ale/IPA these days, but also I went into drinking this with the proper style expectations this time.
