Coppertail Brewing Distortion Field
Coppertail Brewing Distortion Field is an American IPA, brewed with Pekko, Mosaic & Galaxy hops, 8% ABV. I had myself a 4 oz pour of this at the brewery, and that was enough to make me commit to taking home a 32 oz crowler.
This is a good looking golden colored beer with the absolute slightest bit of haze. A solid off white head sits on top of the beer and settles to a thin layer and ring after several minutes. Great smelling IPA here, clearly getting some of the Mosaic with notes of earth and fruitiness. There is a floral thing going on as well that mixes with some mild pine in the aroma. The taste is about as close to the nose as they come. Lots of sweet fruit, mango and orange stand out from the start. The hops also bring a moderate amount of earthiness and just a hint of pine as well. Behind all the hoppy goodness is some solid caramel and cracker malt that adds a little bit of balance to the moderate bitterness. The 8% ABV is giving off a little more alcohol taste than I’d like, but that is a minor complaint.
Excellent IPA Coppertail has got here; look for it at the brewery, on tap around their distribution footprint, or in bottles if it eventually makes it to package.
