Mystic Table Beer
Mystic Table Beer is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale, 4.3% ABV. I love the idea of a Belgian-style Table Beer, or an Everyday Saison as Mystic calls it. Too often beer is a forgotten beverage when community bottles are placed on the table for a large meal or gathering. I’d love to see table beer make a serious comeback! There is no obvious bottle date, but a code of 04150 is printed on the label.
The beer pours with a pale yellow color and a large and active white head. A slow and steady pour wins the race with this one. A classic Saison aroma with some musty grass/hay, slight tart lemon, and some mild black pepper all tickling the nose. The flavor is simple but flavorful with notes of bread crust, mild pear, black pepper, a some good earthy yeast. A crisp and dry mouth-feel rounds out the drinking experience.
This is a great beer to compliment with just about any meal. A flavorful Saison that is fairly bold for it’s low ABV, that doesn’t have the clutter of “too much” going on.
