Samuel Adams Hopscape
Samuel Adams Hopscape is an American Pale Wheat Ale brewed with Chinook, Citra, Centennial and Zeus hops, 5.5% ABV. This “west coast style” wheat ale is a new winter seasonal designed to bridge the gap from winter to spring. Product provided for review.
The beer pours with a slightly hazy lemon yellow color with some strong gold highlights when held to the light. The white head is plentiful to start and fades to an appropriately thin layer after about five minutes. Rather citrus forward on the nose with strong notes of lemon and yellow grapefruit. There is a spiciness in the taste of this beer that I was not expecting at all, kind of peppery. That spice note mixes with a good bit of sweet and bitter citrus peel and some soft wheat.
This is a pleasant enough beer that certainly should be easy to find. A bit of an odd style choice for this time of year, but this would pair well with a plethora of spicier foods.
