Westbrook Two Claw
Westbrook Two Claw is an American Rye IPA, 7% ABV, no package date. This seems to be a heavily dry-hopped IPA version of their tasty Rye Pale Ale One Claw.
It looks like we have another “New England” IPA that looks terrible. The can say it is intentionally hazy, but this looks like straight up murky orange juice. The head is a nice off white color and has some stellar retention and lacing. A fantastic juicy fruit forward aroma hits the nose before the glass is all the way up to my face. Pineapple, sweet orange, mango and papaya make up the fruit salad I smell, with maybe a hint of pine in the background as well. The taste is quite excellent too; big flavors of orange, a little mango and pineapple, hints of pine, dry biscuit malt and a linger rye spiciness. Moderately bitter with a full yet crisp mouth-feel.
Westbrook almost always brings outstanding beer to the table, and Two Claw is no exception. I think a full 4-pack is in order the next time I see this one. Seek and enjoy!
