The Bruery 9 Ladies Dancing
The Bruery 9 Ladies Dancing is an American Strong Ale with cocoa nibs, coffee, vanilla, and lactose, 11.3% ABV. This years 12 Days of Christmas Series beer is designed to emulate the Italian dessert tiramisu. (9 “lady fingers” dancing)
The beer pours with a dark coffee brown color and has a quickly diminishing light tan head that fades to absolutely nothing. A rather earthy aroma of coffee, un-sweet chocolate and a little sweet vanilla greets the nose. This has an interesting flavor profile; coffee is absolutely a large element to the beer, but there is a surprising fruity flavor to this beer. There’s and odd pear/apple/cherry kind of thing going on, it’s not unpleasant but I’m not sure how much I really like the combo either. The lacto is adding some odd tartness as well. Not bad, just odd. Oh yeah, the tiramisu! This doesn’t taste like it at all.
Not my favorite from The Bruery, but I can’t call this a bad beer. In spite of it’s oddness it’s at least interesting, and it does taste pretty good overall. If you have been picking up the beers in this series I wouldn’t skip this one, give it a try and see what you think.
