Prairie Artisan Ales ‘Merica
Prairie Artisan Ales ‘Merica is a Saison/Farmhouse Ale, 7.5% ABV. It seems the packaging date stamped on the bottle is 28516, so probably the 285th day (October 11th) of 2016.
The initial pour is a crystal clear golden yellow color that has a large white head that has excellent retention. The last of 12oz bottle did cloud up the beer considerably with some settled yeast. The aroma of this Saison is really nice; notes of lemon zest, hay, mild yeast funk, sweet biscuit malt, and a little pepper. Citrusy and peppery on the taste with a fair amount of sweet malt. There is also just a touch of tartness to the taste that I’m enjoying quite a bit. It isn’t a dominate part of the flavor, but it is strong enough to be more than subtle. A dry finish has a lingering taste of white grape and alcohol heat giving the beer a little bit of a white wine character.
Even if this does in fact have a little age on it, this is a super solid beer. ‘Merica fits right in line with most of the other tasty Saisons that Prairie Artisan Ales brew.
