RJ Rockers Good Boy Stout
RJ Rockers Good Boy Stout clocks in at 6.5% ABV, bottled on 12/27/16, opened on 01/31/16.
The beer pours with a black color, and has a sturdy tan head that settles to a thick foamy layer on the beer. An extremely classic American Stout aroma is apparent immediately. Mild roast, a little sweet cream, a slight touch of coffee and some dark fruits make up a rather pleasant aroma. The flavor falls a good bit short of the nose with some slightly astringent roasted malts, chalky dark chocolate, and a little sweet caramel dominating the taste. A strange combination of mild hop bitterness, and what I can best describe as charred yeast, make up an incredibly dry and unique finish. The mouth-feel is a touch thin for me, but it isn’t anything offensive.
Ultimately enjoyable after I got used to the flavor profile, but I wish this tasted a good bit more like it smelled.
