Stone Tangerine Express IPA
Stone Tangerine Express IPA is brewed with tangerine and pineapple, 6.7% ABV.
This beer pours with a golden orange color and a good looking off white head. I didn’t notice it at first, but there is a bit of sediment suspended in the beer. This IPA has a pungent hop aroma with a ton of dank resinous pine, a touch of onion and just a hint of generic fruitiness. I was expecting more distinct tangerine on the nose immediately, but it takes a good bit of warming before I start to smell it. Much more citrus in the taste up front. Sweet tangerine and some juicy pineapple lead things off and lingers on throughout the taste. Some of the pine and onion comes on next and leads to a moderately bitter finish. The malt has a touch of cracker, it isn’t obvious but it does a superb job of creating some balance.
It is pretty rare to drink an IPA from Stone that isn’t mighty tasty, and this one is no different.
